THE HISTORY OF THE DAUGHTERS OF MERCY AND THE CROSS

We are the “Figlie della Misericordia e della Croce”, whose institutional Charism is founded on the works of corporal and spiritual Mercy and on the Cross—the Mercy of God, the proclamation of Christ who came to earth to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom and to take upon himself all the sufferings of humanity (cf. Mt 9:35).

After adapting the house for one of these works, today, coinciding with the opening of the Holy Door, we have received the necessary certificate to begin the mission of hosting pilgrims and students.

The house is located at Via Enrico De Ossò, 73 and 75 – 00166 Rome, tel. 06 66415860 (West area, Boccea, near Via Val Cannuta; availability of 25 rooms).

Pilgrims, upon arrival, will find themselves in front of a large pine forest. After walking along the central path, on the left, they will reach the Oasis, where they will be welcomed by the grand sculpture of the Foundress, Mother Maria Rosa Zangara. She is described as the one who “embraces all works of Mercy and all forms of poverty, identified as a sign, image, and mystery of Christ’s presence among us” (cf. Nino Barraco, journalist, July 1, 1990).

The rooms are equipped with all modern comforts. In the religious house, a chapel is an essential presence—a place where the Living God dwells, open to all. This sacred place is preceded by an ascensional path, designed as a meditative journey for the faithful, guided by two terracotta panels representing the works of corporal and spiritual Mercy.
